Principais objetivos da unidade curricular:
i) Compreender, discutir e identificar as principais áreas da antropologia biológica e respectivas aplicações;
ii) Conhecer o desenvolvimento histórico da antropologia biológica, não esquecendo o caso português;
iii) Compreender, discutir, identificar e aplicar os conceitos iniciais e primados da teoria evolutiva moderna;
iv) Compreender, discutir e identificar os principais conceitos e debates teóricos dentro da primatologia bem como aplicar esta área de investigação a contextos específicos (e.g. conservação).
Main goals of the course;
i) To understand, discuss and identify the main areas of biological anthropology (and its applications);
ii) To know and understand the historical development of biological anthropology, not forgetting the Portuguese case;
iii) To understand, discuss, identify and apply the basic concepts and principles of the modern evolutionary theory;
iv) To understand, discuss and identify the main concepts and theoretical debates in Primatology as well as apply this research area to specific contexts (e.g. conservation).
